10/32 Life’s Strategies in Forgiveness and Hearing God

Posted by on December 1, 2015 at 4:43 am

FB Life StratiesThe person you most need to stand up to in this world is you. In the war called “life”, most of the decisive battles are fought within you.   Once you learn ‘the rules of the game’, we can learn to get what we need and want. Learn how to plan the game and you will be amazed at the difference in your own life.

The following are a brief summary of the 9 ‘Life Laws’ or basic rules that govern our universe and human behaviour from the book by Dr. Philip C. McGraw called Life Strategies.

Life Law #1 – “You must get real with yourself!”

Cuppa’ with Susanne – new series in Hearing God

Posted by on September 12, 2014 at 5:08 amfeedback

cuppa 16Welcome back everyone!  Have time to stop and have a ‘Cuppa with me?  It’s a warm sunny day here on the eastern Sunshine Coast of Australia.  We’ve taken a break from cold wintery Melbourne    ……. and I’m setting out our next series.

So yes, I begin a new series!  I want to stop and reflect on what it means to be a Christian, a real Jesus Follower.  Sad to say, so many people sit in the church building without a living, dynamic relationship with either their Creator or the Holy Spirit He sent.  Church life for many is more tradition, what’s expected or what they have always thought being a Christian meant.

10/35 Sustain and Retain your Growth while Hearing God

Posted by on December 21, 2015home at 12:06 am

Be prepared for your healing and growth to be challenged as you journey against the man walking p_008enemy. You do need to learn how to stand firm in the face of old lies, self-talk and bad behaviour patterns that might still lurk around the corner.

Recently I attended an evening meeting where ‘Maintaining Your Deliverance’ was presented as a topic. I asked the guest speaker to write a Guest post for us.  So, may I present a Guest Post for our series Personal Spiritual Warfare and Hearing God!

*************

Many Christians go through a ‘deliverance experience’ and then wonder what they can do next to keep their heart close to the Lord. Sometimes, Christians even let the same old thoughts back into their world and as a result, the enemy gains another foothold in their lives.  They might even think: “Well that didn’t work!” and return to their old patterns.  Thus the enemy has won that battle.

10/17 Accepting God’s Forgiveness is part of growth in Jesus

Posted by on July 7, 2015 at 12:21 am

We spend one more post on the topic of receiving His forgiveness in learning to hear FeatherPenfrom God.  In counselling and mentoring, we have seen many people who just cannot accept that God can and will forgive them.  It’s like their Heart or their Conscience, or Mind believe their ‘sin’ is so bad, no one, especially God, can forgive them.

Sometimes the ‘sin’ is really is a big disaster, other times their ‘sin’ might seem rather small by other’s view.  However, we work with what the person believes – large or small.

When this belief stops a person receiving God’s forgiveness, it probably comes from one of many sources:

  1. They have judged themselves so harshly, nothing can remove their fatal ‘mistake’.

10/24 Forgiveness, an essential key in Hearing God

scroll and quillIn our last post, we encouraged you to spend some time with the Lord and write out a list of PEOPLE that have been a wrong influence in your life. This can often be the roots of the problem, or sin you are resisting.

To be free of the hurt, the wrong influence and the emotions attacked to these people, most often forgiveness is the ONLY weapon.

We covered some of this in our posts 10/18 & 10/19.

Forgiveness does not always come with a feeling. Forgiveness starts with a choice. Most Christians know a lot about the subject of forgiveness but often stumble at HOW to do it. Some people try doing it with their mind and will but the Lord said to forgive …. from the Heart.

Hearing God presents: ‘Walking into Walls’

Posted by on October 18, 2014 at 1:13 am

Book: Walking into Walls I have a new book recommended! I’ve added it to my blogs so you can see what others are reading too!

Have you ever heard yourself say: “As hard as I try, life never turns out like I hoped”. “Why is it that everyone has better friends than I do?” “I would be so happy if it weren’t for him (or her).” “No one can know my secret; I’ve got to deal with it on my own.” “I’ve messed up so badly, God will never forgive me.”

Do any of these feelings sound familiar?

Along the lines of ‘Co-dependent no more’, ‘Walking into Walls’ helps you see the walls that stop growth and relationships. We think we protect ourselves but must disable stuff within. Best-selling author, radio host, and counsellor Stephen Arterburn identifies five prison walls, or blind spots, that will hold you captive and block the amazing things God wants to do in your life,

10/37 Rejoice in the Liberty and Peace of the Lord Jesus

hearing shell1abCongratulations! You’ve made it to the last post in this series on becoming a mature follower of Jesus Christ. Finished and now perfect – no, as you will still continue to grow but good job to get to this point.

Now that you know the Where we were headed and all the steps along the way, you might want to go back and start the series again. You’ll gain more the second time through. However now that you are reading this post, the final step we wanted to discuss was Rejoice!

Gratitude and appreciation are rare commodities in our fast food and convenient culture. When was the last time you told someone that you appreciate them for something – or for just being in your life? When have you stopped and be thankful for those around you who do care about you? Are thankful for those who are prepared to walk with you through life’s storms?

10/11 What does the Creator Require us to let go?

Posted by on March 18, 2015 at 2:58 ame-mail

When facing the issues in our own life, we need to hear God on a topic called ‘Stronghold’.  Everyone has a system of girl with dadpersonal strongholds.  Some of our strongholds are set before we are even born.

As we have said in past posts, the vast majority of Christians come into God’s kingdom with worldly mindsets, ingrained bad habits, deep set judgements, biases, undealt with hurts, old forgiveness issues and other assorted heart stuff.  These ‘fortified structures’ of false beliefs are what the Bible refers to as ‘strongholds’.

We inherited some of these strongholds through our foundations from Adam and Eve.  We acquired both God-given traits and after the Fall, their self-centred, independent Sin-nature.  We then added generations of ethnic, cultural, national and historical attitudes and thinking patterns.  Next, we developed more complex networks of attitudes through our family of origin (FOO) traditions, their values and expectations. Finally, we personally added more ‘bricks’ to our personal strongholds by our own faulty choices and behaviours.  What a mess!

10/21 So what does ‘Resist’ mean when you are Hearing God?

Posted by on September 9, 2015 at 7:35 am

In our last post, we talked about the necessity of learning to ‘Resist’ in your spiritual battle with the women w glassesenemy. Please know we are not talking about the ‘grit your teeth’, self-striving kind of ‘Resist’

Here is a story that may help you to see the difference.

‘Kayla’ had troubles when it came to climbing stairs, nor because of ill health but huge anxiety attacks especially whenever she attempted to climb any stairs where you could see through each step. She had learned 200 Bible verses and used these as weapons in her anxiety. She had learned breathing techniques and mental exercises to stop the nerve wrenching thoughts as she approached any stairs. He son had bruises on his arm as she would grip his arm for support, even going up an escalator.

Hearing God & How to get the best from this study

Posted by on October 12, 2014 at 11:38 pmtrademarks

people2This study has been written for those who wish a deeper and more vital relationship with the loving Lord Jesus Christ. These 10 ‘R’s’ or 10 Steps are not a magic formula or a superstitious law for immediate growth.  We present this as a procedure to follow for your own walk.

This study is birthed out of over 25 years of counselling experience, ministering to the new Christian as well as to those who have walked a long part of their journey already. While these steps are designed to be followed in order, we do realise the Holy Spirit may lead you into a different order or spend more time on new step and not on another.  However, the aim is a deeper deliverance they you have ever had before!

10/36 Be a partner with God in your growth

woman with ipad Some people use a logical, rational approach: “If it’s not broke, you don’t need to fix it.” However, like any plant, you need to water, encourage and look after growth to have growth continue.

Learn how to care for yourself, to be self-aware in the middle of the fire of growth, in the midst of change so that growth can happen. Understand the HALT” prescription:  Don’t get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired.  When we haven’t learned how to see and set our boundaries for these four things in our own life, each can bring a discouraging downward slide.

Remember, you don’t repair the roof in the middle of the storm.

Your Practical Time to ‘Relinquish’ as you hear your Creator

Posted by on March 18, 2015 at 3:03 amapi

women at computerSo far we have laid out the 10 Steps to Freedom in being a Jesus follower.  Remember what they were?  It’s true that we are not all on one step or another; everyone’s growth is individual.  When some people find the true Lord Jesus, there is so turning around, they are able to ‘Relinquish’ most of the chains that keep them locked into the old nature and a life of drugs, alcohol or gambling.  Their conversion to Jesus is so dramatic that they can step into God’s kingdom with a once and for all leap!

10/26 Facing the Idols in your Heart to Resist and grow

Posted by on November 2, 2015e-mail at 10:46 pmterms

girl at sunsetLet’s spend one more day on the topic of Idols and Idolatry. True, it is a huge area and one we could write many posts to define and deal with such spiritual things. Spend some time looking into this area of your spiritual and emotional life.

If you are brave enough, ask the Lord to show you any idols you hold dear to your Heart that might replace Him as your focus. It might be small things or huge things, as I shared with you in our last post. For me, the Lord had to deal with roses!

Interesting, for every idol, there is also a ‘High Place’ or the entry point. We see this often in the idolatry in the Old Testament. It was the place where people went to worship at their idol.

10/6 “Relinquish” means what for the new Believer in Hearing God?

Posted by on December 16, 2014 at 6:19 amservice

fireworks3So far we have seen that the first step toward in being a Jesus Follower is to be willing to ‘Relinquish’ our own ways of doing things, defence masks and be willing to step into a different mind-set. “Maybe …. Just maybe I need to check out what this Jesus thing is all about…”  To do that means to lay aside the self-satisfied ways of doing things … and just maybe find a whole new world hidden behind that veil of doubt and ignorance.

When we take that step, it doesn’t mean that we fall into a bed of roses. Life will never be the same again but what changes when the Holy Spirit touches your Heart?  For some people, nothing seems to change immediately.  For others, fireworks and great joy opens heaven’s doors.
