10/22 Resist by doing things God’s Way

September 25, 2015

As we have seen in our last post, to Resist may be to find the key to the problem that Jackson inner healingdrives us into repeating the issues again. We are designed to walk in freedom as Jesus Followers – but what does this mean? Whenever we lost our peace, we are facing a spiritual battle first.

Probably one of the largest and most unseen battles is around our anger, resentment and feelings when someone hurts us. Being human, I am sure this is something you, my reader, have faced as well. When we are hurt, wrongly accused or unjustly treated, our Heart can take an ‘offense’.

Again this in one of the most common battles we all face. How do we handle it God’s way? How do we Resist as He would have us Resist?

10/6 “Relinquish” means what for the new Believer in Hearing God?

December 16, 2014store

fireworks3So far we have seen that the first step toward in being a Jesus Follower is to be willing to ‘Relinquish’ our own ways of doing things, defence masks and be willing to step into a different mind-set. “Maybe …. Just maybe I need to check out what this Jesus thing is all about…”  To do that means to lay aside the self-satisfied ways of doing things … and just maybe find a whole new world hidden behind that veil of doubt and ignorance.

When we take that step, it doesn’t mean that we fall into a bed of roses. Life will never be the same again but what changes when the Holy Spirit touches your Heart?  For some people, nothing seems to change immediately.  For others, fireworks and great joy opens heaven’s doors.

10/29 Learning to Re-claim your Freedom

November 13, 2015

jesusSo far, we have outlined 6 steps in our Growth process as Jesus Followers: Relinquish, Recognize, Repent, Resist and to Renounce. By the time you have worked through each of the steps we have recommended, you will definitely ‘feel’ a difference spiritually.

Remember if there hasn’t been total release, check if your Heart has made a friend of the enemy, believing it to be a friend.   Sometimes, the Heart believes this ‘friend’ is a way to cope with life’s issues.  It may not be logically but the Hear has it’s own logic.  If you need more info on the Heart, Check  “9/1 Welcome to this new series on our blog about Hearing God!”    http://hearinggod.mentorsnotebook.com/blog/?p=1503

Tired of Walking into Walls in your Personal Growth?

May 7, 2015

Walking into Walls bestI have a new book recommended! I’ve added it to my blogs so you can see what others are reading too!

Have you ever heard yourself say: “As hard as I try, life never turns out like I hoped”. “Why is it that everyone has better friends than I do?” “I would be so happy if it weren’t for him (or her).” “No one can know my secret; I’ve got to deal with it on my own.” “I’ve messed up so badly, God will never forgive me.”

Do any of these feelings sound familiar?

Along the lines of ‘Co-dependent no more’, ‘Walking into Walls’ helps you see the walls that stop growth and relationships. We think we protect ourselves but must disable stuff within. Best-selling author, radio host, and counsellor Stephen Arterburn identifies five prison walls, or blind spots, that will hold you captive and block the amazing things God wants to do in your life,

1/1 An Introduction to Spiritual Gifts

April 3, 2016conditions

gifts2In this new series, we stop and examine what is known as ‘Spiritual Gifts’. When we enter into a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, He gives us all gifts!  He wants to communicate with us and to have us share His communication with those around us.  He has promised that He will build His Church and what a treasure to help in that process!

In this series, we shall explore the three major groupings of the Gifts given to the church. This has been and is the project of the Ages, beginning with the Promises of the Seed in Genesis. We will lay out some guidelines for practicing these gifts alone with some practical suggestions to start you on your own journey to “Understand Spiritual Gifts”.

The Whole Bible Explained in 7 1/2 minutes!

October 2, 2015api

Quite a few years ago we attended a Bible group where we were taught the over all theme of the Bible.  I enjoyed so much I just wondered if it was still there.  Yes, here it is!  Produced on YouTube by:  http://youtu.be/h7TLS-KWnw8  Sadly, you have to have a YouTube account to see this but check out the next one. Then I found another YouTube by Ben Samulak to see the overall view of the Bible and yes in a humorous way:

I trust you enjoyed this break from our series as you took ‘A Walk Through the Bible’.

10/30 Learn to Renew your Spiritual walk in Hearing God

November 17, 2015

Sometimes, it is hard to remember that we live in a spiritual world that shows itself in the physical world. chains2This is very true when it come to this step in learning to be a mature Jesus follower.

Ephesians 4:24 puts it this way:

“…22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.…”

10/14 Recognising Truth is part of Hearing God and Maturity

May 21, 2015

phoneSo far in our Hearing God blog, we have touched on the first point in our grown as Jesus Followers – to learn to Relinquish.   Sometimes it is important to tie the next word in our series on ‘the 10 steps to Freedom in Christ’ with …. Recognise.

Many people have pointed out the fact that we live in a very self-cantered society.  We are encouraged to be independent and learn to take care of your own needs.  Human nature enhances this with a “After me, everyone come next….”.  You can see it in the business and political world but also in the media, on the roads and in the jungle we call life.

10/23 So what are we Resisting in Hearing God?

October 10, 2015

teen6We are continuing to look at the 10 essential steps in maturity as we follow Jesus!

The main aim for this step in your growth as a Jesus Follower and haring God is to add your strength and will power to remove whatever is in your Heart that feeds the problem. This means being that partner with the Holy Spirit, to follow Him in the ‘ahaaa’ that comes with conviction – not condemnation!

Rather than just ‘grit your teeth and endure’, we need to see what is at the bottom of the issues we face. Sometimes this means a spiritual journey but sometimes it may mean seeing what is at the ‘heart’ of a physical problem.

10/8 To ‘Relinquish’ is a process

January 24, 2015

toomuch2We spend another post on the first stage of waking with the true Lord Jesus.  Recently It’s Spring in my part of the world, in Australia.  For those of us who do any gardening.  Spring means what?  Ohhoooo – weeds….over grown patches where the winter cold has let its mark.  Patches where once flowers bloomed and bushes thrived.  Wind and cold keep us indoors but now … warm sunshine.

Our life is much like a garden, especially when we think about inner growth and new freedom in Christ.  Old ways of doing things, of handling problems in our own self-effort become clear in the light of a new Spring.  Tangled vines, dead mind-sets, crumpled paths … and sometimes broken tree branches block our view.  We could go on and on but I’m sure you get the picture by now, even if you’re not a gardener.

10/31 Hear God to Renew your Thinking by seeing the Opposites

November 27, 2015
marketing

In our last post, we stressed the importance of choosing to fill those emnpty places in your thinking and behaviour with phonepositive truths, to see yourself the way He does.

Another way of doing this is to go back to your list and write out the opposite of the things you set before Him. Here are some examples:

Sin Area: Opposite Attitude:

Pride – Humility

Rejection – Self Acceptance

Lust – Purity

Anger – Gentleness

Go through your list and ask the Holy Spirit to give you =the inspiration to see what NEW is needed to replace the OLD.

10/15 Determine to Recognise what stops your growth in Hearing God

June 2, 2015

FB Life StratiesOne of the factors in your growth in Hearing God, is the understanding of what stops you from growing, both personally and in God.  I have been reading an interesting book we could apply to our topic on hearing your Creator’s voice as well as I the secular world.  The following is a brief summary of the 9 ‘Life Laws’ or basic rules that govern our universe and human behaviour from the book by Dr. Philip C. McGraw called ‘Life Strategies’.

The person you most need to stand up to in this world is you.  In the war called “life”, most of the decisive battles are fought within you.   Once you learn ‘the rules of the game’, we can learn to get what we need and want.  Learn how to plan the game and you will be amazed at the difference in your own life.

Cuppa’ with Susanne – new series in Hearing God

September 12, 2014

cuppa 16Welcome back everyone!  Have time to stop and have a ‘Cuppa with me?  It’s a warm sunny day here on the eastern Sunshine Coast of Australia.  We’ve taken a break from cold wintery Melbourne    ……. and I’m setting out our next series.

So yes, I begin a new series!  I want to stop and reflect on what it means to be a Christian, a real Jesus Follower.  Sad to say, so many people sit in the church building without a living, dynamic relationship with either their Creator or the Holy Spirit He sent.  Church life for many is more tradition, what’s expected or what they have always thought being a Christian meant.

10/24 Forgiveness, an essential key in Hearing God

October 22, 2015
rss

scroll and quillIn our last post, we encouraged you to spend some time with the Lord and write out a list of PEOPLE that have been a wrong influence in your life. This can often be the roots of the problem, or sin you are resisting.

To be free of the hurt, the wrong influence and the emotions attacked to these people, most often forgiveness is the ONLY weapon.

We covered some of this in our posts 10/18 & 10/19.

Forgiveness does not always come with a feeling. Forgiveness starts with a choice. Most Christians know a lot about the subject of forgiveness but often stumble at HOW to do it. Some people try doing it with their mind and will but the Lord said to forgive …. from the Heart.
