9/5 What the Bible Says about your Heart

As we have mentioned, there are pages and pages about your Heart found in the Old and New Testament.  Here are some of the varieties of how God sees your Heart. 

A.   Basic concept of the heart:

  1. The wellspring of all life – Psalms. 4:23, Luke 5:45

   2. H/T combines with other parts to the human personality:

    a. The heart and soul:   Deut 6:5, 1 Sam 14:7, Matthew 22:37

       b. The heart and   body: Psalms 16:9.

       c. The heart and   mind: Psalms 26:2, Matthew 22:37, Revelations 2:23.

       d. The heart and   spirit: Psalms 51:10, 17,   Ezekiel 18:31.

       e. The heart and   flesh: Psalms 73:26, 84:2.

       f. The heart and thoughts: Psalms 139:23.

B. The Conditions of the Heart:

   1. The glad heart – Exodus 4:14, Acts 2:26.

   2. The singing heart – Ephesians 5:19.

   3. The heart that loves   Deut 6:5, Sol 3:1-3.

   4. The heart that takes delight – Ecclesiastes 2:10, Jeremiah 15:16,

  5. Excited heart – Luke 24:32.

   6. The courageous heart – 1 Samuel 10:26,   Psalms 27:14.

   7. The heart that is encouraged – Col 2:2,   2 Thessalonians 2:17.

   8. Thankful heart –Colossians 3:16.

   9. Repentant heart –   Psalms 51:17.

  10. Humble heart –   Matthew 11:29.

  11. The compassionate  heart – Luke 7:13.

  12. Anxious heart –   Proverbs 12:25.

  13. Discouraged heart –

  14. Troubled heart – John 12:27.

  15. The grieving heart –  1 Samuel 2:23, Luke 2:19.

  16. Tormented heart –   Luke 2:11.

  17. Broken heart – Ezra 21:6.

  20. Rebellious – Jeremiah 5:23.

  29. Filled with schemes to do wrong – Ecclesiastes 8:11.

   

  30. Unbelieving -Hebrews 3:12.   31. Gone astray – Psalms 95:10.   32. Devoted to idols –  Ezekiel 11:21.   33. Filled with madness   – Ecclesiastes 9:3.

   34. Far from God –  Isaiah 29:13, Mark 7:6.

C. Conditions of the Unregenerate Heart:

    1. Proud – Proverbs 18:12.

    2. Foolish – Proverbs   12:23.

    3. Hardened – Ephesians 4:18.

    4. Evil heart – Genesis   6:5.

    5. Unrepentant – Romans 2:5.

    6. Source of Evil – Hebrews 3:12, 2 Peter 2:14.

    7. Foundation of all   evil – Mark 7:21.

 

D. The Heart Touched by God:

    1. Cries out for the   living God – Psalms 84:2.

    2. Seeks God – Psalms 119:2, 10.

    3. Responds to God –  2 Kings 22:19.

    4. Trusts in the Lord –    Proverbs 3:5.

    5. Loves the Lord – Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37.

    6. Praises the Lord –  Psalms 91:1.

    7. Is grateful – Colossians 3:16.

    8. Obeys God’s laws – Psalms 34, 69, 112, Ephesians 6:6.

    9. Hides God’s word within h/t – Psalms 119:11.

   10. Meditates on God and His word – Psalms 19:14.

   11. Can speak the truth – Psalms 15:2.

   12. Is steadfast and secure – Psalms   57:7, 112:78.

   13. Is pure – Psalms   24:4, Matthew 5:8.

   14. Is wise – Proverbs 10:8.

   15. Is unafraid and Courageous – Psalms 27:3, 14.

   16. Is contrite – Psalms 51:17.

   17. Is circumcised – Deuteronomy 10:16,  Romans 2:29.

   18. Is sincere – Acts 2:46, Hebrews 10:22.

   19. Walks blameless – Psalms 101:2.

    20. Can love others – 1 Peter 1:22.

              

 

 

 E. God’s Relationship &   Heart:

    1. He know it – 1 Samuel 16:7.

    2. Searched by Him –  Psalms 7:9, Jeremiah17:10.

    3. Tests it – 1Ch 29:17, 1Thessalonians 2:4

    4. Influenced by God –  Ezekiel 7:27 

    5. He directs it – Proverbs 21:1.

    6. He opens it – Acts   16:14.

    7. He touches it – 1Samuel 10:26.

    8. He cleanses it –  Hebrews 10:22.

    9. He writes He laws on   it – Jeremiah 31:33.

   10. He strengthens it –     1 Thessalonians 3:13.

   11. He keeps it loyal  – 1 Chronicles 29:18.

   12.. He gives us a new   heart – Psalms 51:10,   Ezekiel 11:19.

F. Other Verses and the   Heart:

    21. Shares purposes with h/t – Jeremiah 23:20.

    22. Shares the motives of h/t – 1 Corinthians   4:5.

    23. Shares the desires   of h/t –  Psalms 21:2,  Romans 10:1.

    24. To aid hard heart –   Exodus 4:21, Proverbs 28:14.

As you read through some of these verse, it will give you a new understanding of the importance of knowing and working with your Heart for better health and hope in God.
