8/10 Other Parts to the Eternal Covenant in Hearing God

As we wrap up a series on the Covenants of God, we continue with the Sacrifice, the Seal, the oath and the Place that this final agreement exists.

A.  The Sacrifice to Ratify the Agreement

Since no one from Adam’s race was perfect and sinless enough to redeem us, the Word became flesh, John 1:1-3, 14-18.  The Word was born into this world as a helpless baby.  He came at a time when Rome ruled His country, one of the cruelest dictator governments ever.

Jesus of Nazareth accomplished the Final Sacrifice by His perfect life, His actual physical death and then by His resurrection.  As the seed of the woman, the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and a descendant from David’s line, Jesus offered His sinless body to complete the Final Sacrifice.

Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world, Revelations 13:8, 17:8, 1 Peter 1:19-20.  It is through this priceless blood that all sin and transgression will be dealt with.

All iniquity will be purged from the new Earth and Heavens.  The Earth will be cleansed from the presence of Satan and his hordes forever, Revelations 12:4-12, Job 15:15, Hebrews 10.

B.  The Seal of the Covenant

At His ascension, Jesus took His virgin-born, sinless, crucified and now glorified body back into heaven.  It is this glorified Man in Heaven that gives us a guarantee, a token or seal of our resurrection and perfect body.

When Christ returns the second time, believers will receive an immortal and glorified perfect body.  The Holy Spirit will quicken (make alive) our own physical body, Romans 8:10-11.

The resurrected, glorified Lord Jesus Christ will join His Bride, those in the Church.

C.  The Mediator of the Covenant

Jesus Christ, the sinless, perfect, eternal Priest carries out the Everlasting Covenant on our behalf.

The Church, the Redeemed, joins her Redeemer as joint-heirs.  ‘In Christ’ we were perfect under the New Covenant; in the Eternal Covenant we are forever completed and perfect.

D. The Place of the Covenant, the Holy Place

We, the Redeemed, will see the new Heavens and new Earth.  The ultimate and eternal ‘tabernacle of God’ and the dwelling place of the redeemed will be the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem.

The throne of God and the Lamb, eternal and visible will celebrate LIFE.

E.  The oath of the covenant

In the eternal counsel of the Godhead, an oath was given that the Word would become flesh.  All the previous oaths find their fulfilment and completion in Jesus’ immortal work on the Cross.

F.  Conclusions to the eternal Covenant

God’s eternal intention was to bring Mankind to a state of sinless perfection by a free will, at our own heart choice.  Having been perfected through the work of Jesus, we celebrate this Plan, as God’s teaching and rebuilding brings us peace.  This ‘making us over process’ comes into bloom with the New Covenant and finishes in the Everlasting Covenant.

In Christ we can do all things. He does have all authority in Heaven and Earth, seen and unseen, now and forever. We can make a difference and let the Glory of God shine through us!
