10/25 Idols in your Heart may block growth in Hearing God

November 1, 2015

heart5However it is not just people who can influence us or block our ability to Resist the enemy of our Soul. Sometimes, we can look to ‘things’ to influence or avoid the issues we need to face. These can be called ‘IDOLS’.

Most Christians would say and idol is anything that replaces the hole in our Heart made for our Creator. It is something that we pay more attention to than we do to Jesus. Using that definition, we can see an Idol can be things, people, events or even what is called ‘Heart vows’. These are statements we make such as “I’ll never go near that horrible person again.” …or “I will never forgive that person.” …or “I’ll never trust him again!”

A Word from the Lord

November 1, 2015news

A Word from the Lord

Some on reading this post may need to hear from the Lord and His love for you. Please take this as your own ‘Daily Bread’ to grow in your walk with the Lord.

“I have followed the flight of an eagle with My eyes.  I have seen the mighty fish in the sea and they all give Me great pleasure ..… but do you know the greatest of all My creation is the Adam and Eve I created?

“Time has not changed My joy in seeing mankind grow.  However, My heart has been saddened when I know the pleasure I wish to give My people, give to you My child.  My ways are meant to be light, My burden easy.  Religions and rules make the heaviness I wish to lift from My people.

10/26 Facing the Idols in your Heart to Resist and grow

November 2, 2015copyright

girl at sunsetLet’s spend one more day on the topic of Idols and Idolatry. True, it is a huge area and one we could write many posts to define and deal with such spiritual things. Spend some time looking into this area of your spiritual and emotional life.

If you are brave enough, ask the Lord to show you any idols you hold dear to your Heart that might replace Him as your focus. It might be small things or huge things, as I shared with you in our last post. For me, the Lord had to deal with roses!

Interesting, for every idol, there is also a ‘High Place’ or the entry point. We see this often in the idolatry in the Old Testament. It was the place where people went to worship at their idol.

10/27 The Fifth Step is to Renounce as you follow the Holy Spirit to Freedom

November 5, 2015

I’m sure by now I don’t need to tell you that we live in a physical world with a spiritual dimension. Behind the half-truths and heart lies ewe all have believed is a spiritual force that is insistent in keeping ybcn_prayforamerica_250pxou bound to whatever ‘sin’, addiction, wrong doing or issue you face. It is this spiritual power that Jesus came to break and to set us free. His work on the cross is sufficient to ‘break’ any stronghold over us!  This is called ‘Deliverance’.

So it probably goes without saying that to ensure this freedom, we need to address the spiritual forces behind the issues you are working through with the Holy Spirit. These ‘spirits’ are sent to control us into the behaviour that keeps us limited, stunted and not growing in Him.

Great song: “Show me your ways”

November 7, 2015content

From time to time, we add a great song to help you focus on the Lord.  Here is one of my favorites: “Show me Your ways” , sung by Darlene Zschech from Hillsong

Take time to let these words sink from your head down into your Heart.

10/28 So can be face and get rid of the Demonic Ourselves?

November 12, 2015jobs

women w glassesMany Christians go through a ‘deliverance experience’ and then wonder what they can do next to keep their heart close to the Lord. Sometimes, Christians even let the same old thoughts back into their world and as a result, the enemy gains another foothold in their lives. They might even think: “Well that didn’t work!” and return to their old patterns. Thus the enemy has won that battle.

It is important for us to know our enemy and the plans he uses to pull us down. The following discussion comes from working with many people to help them stand against the works of the enemy in their own lives.

Let’s begin this post by remembering that Jesus has finished His work on the Cross. This is where every Jesus Follower must stand!

10/29 Learning to Re-claim your Freedom

November 13, 2015

jesusSo far, we have outlined 6 steps in our Growth process as Jesus Followers: Relinquish, Recognize, Repent, Resist and to Renounce. By the time you have worked through each of the steps we have recommended, you will definitely ‘feel’ a difference spiritually.

Remember if there hasn’t been total release, check if your Heart has made a friend of the enemy, believing it to be a friend.   Sometimes, the Heart believes this ‘friend’ is a way to cope with life’s issues.  It may not be logically but the Hear has it’s own logic.  If you need more info on the Heart, Check  “9/1 Welcome to this new series on our blog about Hearing God!”

10/30 Learn to Renew your Spiritual walk in Hearing God

November 17, 2015

Sometimes, it is hard to remember that we live in a spiritual world that shows itself in the physical world. chains2This is very true when it come to this step in learning to be a mature Jesus follower.

Ephesians 4:24 puts it this way:

“…22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.…”

10/31 Hear God to Renew your Thinking by seeing the Opposites

November 27, 2015site-map

In our last post, we stressed the importance of choosing to fill those emnpty places in your thinking and behaviour with phonepositive truths, to see yourself the way He does.

Another way of doing this is to go back to your list and write out the opposite of the things you set before Him. Here are some examples:

Sin Area: Opposite Attitude:

Pride – Humility

Rejection – Self Acceptance

Lust – Purity

Anger – Gentleness

Go through your list and ask the Holy Spirit to give you =the inspiration to see what NEW is needed to replace the OLD.
