9/31 How to give a Testimony to share God’s love

July 1, 2013

Sometimes, it’s too easy to say we need to share our faith with others….but how?  Here is a short post on learning  HOW TO GIVE A TESTIMONY.

Every Christian has a testimony.  We have been involved in the greatest miracle ever – we have become a new creation being!  A well present testimony can be a mighty weapon in the Holy Spirit’s hand to reach others.

1.  Always be prepared to give your testimony, 1 Peter 3:15:

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be prepared to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”

9/32 Knowing the Nature of God in Hearing His voice

July 13, 2013

One of the greatest challenges to our faith is “Why do things happen in my life which don’t seem fair?”  When we understand who God is, we will begin to understand why He does what He does.  Our ignorance of His nature is at the heart of many of our grumbles about life.  Our faith must rest on the nature, character and attributes of God.  Since God cannot change His nature, we can build true faith into our lives by knowing His nature.

The following are the nature, character and the attributes of God:

1.  God is one, in Unity with Himself, His purposes and His plans for us and for mankind are not divided, compromised or incomplete, Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Corinthians 8:6.

9/30 How to Help Others call their Heart to Follow Jesus

June 24, 2013

It always helps to stop every once in awhile and do a quick review!

1.  So far, we have seen that we have a Heart.  We need to be aware of what is happening in our Heart – not just our head.

2.  However, our Heart may be in different conditions.  Most people have a broken, walled in, hiding heart.  What was yours?  How much we have allowed Jesus to touch our Heart?

3.  We then discussed how precious our Heart is to our Creator and how He came ‘to Heal the broken Hearted’.

9/29 Your Heart and Handling Conflicts

July 9, 2013

So far, we have been talking about bringing your Heart to the Lord.  One big area in all this is how our Heart handles conflict.  We need to learn to ‘Chose Relationships over Death’.  This means handling conflicts the way the Lord taught us!

….but what does that mean?  How do we choose death instead of nurture our relationships?  What bring death to our relationship with God and with others?  Again, our free will choice is one of life or death in your Relationships.

A. We will all face conflict with others at sometime

You can’t avoid the clash of relationships, so we need to learn how to handle the differences.  When we react and go the wrong way with these disagreements, we bring death – to the relationship, to our heart and to following Jesus.

9/26 Teach your Children how to Hear from God

April 27, 2013

From time to time, I want to share an interesting session as a Mentor.

I have been working with a young Mum on hearing from God.  I have been encouraging her to pray for her daughter at night.  Lately, she has been asking 4 year old ‘Jeanie‘ what the Lord is saying to her.

One night, Jeanie said she had been having bad dreams.  “Could Jesus help me with these back dreams?” was her next question.  Her mother assured her that He loved her enough that He could and would.

The next night, Jeanie said she had another bad dream.  “…and what did Jesus say?” was Mum’s question.

“He said to think about the peanut butter and honey sandwiches you like instead of thinking about being afraid.”

9/25 Sunday Cuppa’ Gratitude

June 3, 2013tour

Hello everyone!  Grab a cuppa’ and get comfortable.  Lately I have been thinking about the importance of Gratitude!  So thought I’d drop by today and say hello and have a chat about how important this quality is in our life.

So to begin with, have you ever thought about what you bring to your relationships?  No matter how huge people’s problems are, having a positive attitude will help.  Sometimes, you can be that ray of sunshine in another person’s life.

Any research on the subject of Gratitude shows that this attitude has a tremendous influence on every organ in your body.  That’s a good reason to find out more about how to be grateful and gracious with yourself and others.

9/24 The 7 Nations we Face in our Christian Walk in Hearing God

May 22, 2013conditions

In our last post, we presented the idea that the lessons the Hebrew nation needed to learn as they followed Jehovah are the same lessons we need to learn as we follow Jesus.  They faced 7 enemies once they came to His Promised Land.

The seven nations that occupied Israel’s Promised Land teach us spiritual lessons, when we are conquering our own ‘Promised Land’.  Numbers 13 tells us that these giants were very real threats, with immense weapons.  “We are but grasshoppers in their sight….” the ten spies moaned.  That unbelief was the ‘last straw’ and Israel wandered in their wilderness of unbelief for 40 years.

9/23 We follow the same Journey as the Old Testament in Hearing God

May 19, 2013

So far, we have seen that we have a Heart, but that our Heart may be in different conditions.  How much we have allowed Jesus to touch our Heart.  We then discussed how precious our Heart is to our Creator and how He came ‘to Heal the broken Hearted’.

We saw that when we become the ‘New Creation’, we have special rights and privileges as a daughter of the Most High God.  Our Heart and spirit become changed and the goal is ‘…..to be conformed to His image’.  To what degree we cooperate with the Holy Spirit depends on us.  We even spent some time in our ‘God Space’ to see how He sees our Heart.

9/22 Guest Post for Hearing God – Max Lucado ‘The Choice’

April 21, 2013blog

The following has been adapted from a great book by Max Lucado.  It’s called ‘The Choice’.  I have used it on another of my blogs but Iwanted to share this with you today.

<><>o0o<><>

He placed one scoop of clay upon another until a form lay lifeless on the ground.  All of the Garden’s inhabitants paused to witness the event.  Hawks hovered.  Giraffes stretched.  Trees bowed. Butterflies paused on petals and watched.

“You will love me, nature,” God said.  “I made you that way.  You will obey me universe.  For you were destined to do so.  You will reflect my glory Stars, for that is how you were created.  But this one will be like Me.  This one will be able to choose.”

9/21 Two Prayer Meditations for your Heart

July 18, 2013
feed

From time to time, we suggest that you stop and think about the condition of your heart.  Try to allow some response to what we have been talking about.  In fact, we think it is so important that we have included two prayers for you to meditate and pray through.

#1.  Prayer for your Heart:

Lord Jesus, my Heart and I stand before You.  We don’t always understand why You do what You do in our world.  Sometimes, confusion and doubt come when we see things differently than You do.  I would ask for my Heart, the wisdom to hang onto You when pain and affliction happen.  Help us to see Your hand of Love rather than interpreting everything as You being against me.

9/19 We all face Afflictions

May 8, 2013

As we continue with our discussion on the Heart, one of the issues we need to address is why pain happens in this world.   Both our heart and mind need to think through the issues so that pain doesn’t through us off our faith.

1. Pain can be God’s gift to us because pain gets our Attention.

With the world’s way of thinking, it is hard to understand this statement: Pain is a gift of a loving God to Mankind. Think of the times when only the intense misery of pain caused someone to find the Lord Jesus.

2. No one escapes Affliction!

When Creator God thought through The Greatest Rescue Plan in History, He didn’t guarantee absolute pain-free life. In fact, Creator God knew that letting the Plan unfold, pain and suffering were going to be the natural outcome of life on Earth.

9/17 What does it mean ‘…to Follow the Lord’?

May 1, 2013

What do you remember from our previous posts?  So far we have seen that we have a ‘Heart’ and that it can be in different conditions.  Becoming a  Jesus Follower means that our Heart and Spirit have been touched and we are ‘born again’.  To what degree we cooperate with the Holy Spirit depends on us.

It comes down to the heart’s willingness to hear and follow Him.  Our heart can stop us from the kind of walk with our Creator that brings wholeness.  Only when you know your true heart condition can you call your heart to be different.

Then we saw that Jesus came to heal ‘the broken hearted’ and that if we allow Him, He will show us the places where trauma and hurt have happened to get that freedom He already paid for!  So that brings us to this Part Two: What it means “….to Follow the Lord Jesus”.

9/27 Our Thinking Influences the way we Feel

April 29, 2013

Just as a quick review – We have been tracing the pattern of: Heart —– > Thinking patterns —- > Emotions = Behaviour.  In this post, we will continue with how our thinking influences our emotions.

There are two elements of ‘renewing the mind’ that affect how we feel:

1.  Our ATTITUDE about event often is more important than event

It is not what happened to you in the past that is causing the pain today; it is what you think about the past that is causing discomfort.  The past is gone and cannot hurt us anymore.

2.  Then our feelings about the event are CAUSED by attitudes

Our attitude about an event or person will determine our feelings towards that event or person.  Let us illustrate this with an example of Joe visiting Martha:
