8/11 What can we learn from Hearing God and His Covenants?

December 18, 2012

 A.  In studying the Old and New Testament Covenants God has given to individual people, we can learn many important truths about the invisible God we worship:

1.  The covenants give us a progressive, intimate revelation of God’s nature and character through His dealings with mankind. We can see how this revelation is important for us today to know His nature and character.

2.  We can gain an overview of the history of Israel, their failures and successes.

3.  We can see the results when Israel broke the covenant relationships….and how that applies when we break with our Covenant with the Lord Jesus.  There were and still are consequences to turning our back on His conviction power.

Hearing God and a Story about Susanne

December 14, 2012

author of this blog - SusanneIn the year 1943, Susan, daughter of Fay and Granddaughter of Frances, was born.  Her early life was marked by moves and several major changes in family life.  She knew no stable, permanent relationship with a father, other than that of Father God.

In the year 1959, Susan accepted her calling as King and High Priest of the Lord.  To begin with, her service to the Lord of Lords, King Jesus, was marked more by worldly peer group activities than love for His service.  Her awareness of the Most High God’s love grew, but she was not dealing with her heart’s inner and secret life.  She was not taught to:

“ …. tear down the high places…”.

8/9 The Consequences that go with the Eight Covenant

December 9, 2012

Because of Adam and Eve’s rebellion to the Creator’s plans, they brought disastrous consequences on the whole human race.  Death entered along with continued rebellion, sin and self-centred actions.

God’s ‘image bearers’ were now scared and not capable of earning their way to His peace.  Those who would not accept His way into life would face eternal conscious separation from Him, Matthew 25:41.  The fallen creation was also hostile to their domination.

A.  The curses of all the past covenants find their completion in this covenant as well.

This greatest of all curses is known as ‘the second death’ for those who have turned their backs on God, Revelations 2:11, 20:13-15, 21:8.  As a result of turning their back to the sacrifice of Jesus and the conviction of the Holy Spirit, these people will find:

The Nature of God

December 6, 2012

One of the greatest challenges to our faith is “Why do things happen in my life which don’t seem fair?”  When we understand who God is, we will begin to understand why He does what He does.  Our ignorance of His nature is at the heart of many of our grumbles about life.  Our faith must rest on the nature, character and attributes of God.  Since God cannot change His nature, we can build true faith into our lives by knowing His nature.  The following are the nature, character and the attributes of God:

1.  God is one, in Unity with Himself, His purposes and His plans for us and for mankind are not divided, compromised or incomplete, Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Corinthians 8:6.

8/8 Heaven will be Beyond this present Physical Space, Time and Place

December 1, 2012

Asking where heaven exists is a little like asking where the center of the universe is. In fact, the universe doesn’t have a center, since everything is moving away from every other thing. The Bible indicates that heaven does not exist in this universe, but is God’s abode.

Here are some very interesting points about Heaven, adapted from the website: ‘Evidence for God’   http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/xdimgod.html

In fact, the Bible indicates that even the highest heavens (of this universe) cannot contain God.21 Since we human beings are restricted to the space time dimensions of this universe, we can never go in a spaceship and find heaven, since it is not any place to which we can travel.

A.  We will live in a Physical and Spiritual Perfect Place

As we look through the Bible, we can find at least 9 major covenants Creator God made with individuals:

5/6c The Remaining Parts of Moses’ Covenant with El-Elyon

December 8, 2012

As we continue with the Covenant between Jehovah El-Elyon, there are other important parts we can learn from.  So continue with us as we see the Sacrifice used to sanctify the people, the seal given by Jehovah and the place where the Covenant was made.

D.  OTHER PARTS TO THE COVENANT

No oath is recorded with this covenant.  The agreement was orally pronounced and later recorded in the ‘Book of the Covenant’, Exodus 24:7 and then later written into Exodus.

1.  The Sacrifice to ratify the Agreement

The people agreed with the conditions and sealed it by observing a covenant meal, eaten by their representatives in the presence of God, Exodus 24.  Sacrificial blood was sprinkled on the people and on the altar to unite them in their agreement.

5/5b The Covenant Between Abraham and the Creator

December 23, 2012report

In our first post in our discussion between the Creator, El-Elyon and Abraham, we talked about what it might have been like for Abraham as he saw physical evidence of their covenant.  It would have been an amazing sight as Jehovah God visited the field of their covenant in the middle of the night!

Now we continue with this important covernant.  Remember all the covenants are building toward the final, great Covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ …. and you!  So join us as we discuss the sacrifice, the seal and how this covenant is fuflilled for us as Jesus Followers.

5/4c Understanding the Covenant with Noah

December 5, 2012

UNDERSTANDING THE COVENANT WITH NOAH

We continue with the story of our Creator and His relationship with the human race in this third part to the story of Noah and his journey.  So far we had heard about Noah’s commission – both the actual serious version and then the funny story with Bill Crosby.  Then we followed one possible story line for Noah as he ventured out into a whole new world after the flood.  We continue now with the words, terms and the agreement made between Noah and Jehovah.

1.  Who Made the Covenant and Why

The first mention of the word ‘covenant’ occurs in Genesis 6:18, when Jehovah commanded Noah to build an ark.  Again, a loving Jehovah established a covenant with a righteous man to limit the spread of human wickedness.
